The project is to build a four-lane bridge over the Brahmaputra river, connecting Palasbari and Sualkuchi. It includes roads and river protection. The state PWD will manage the 12.21-km project.
Brahmaputra Express Highway
Assam government plans to construct an 890 km express highway along the Brahmaputra River from Sadiya to Dhubri. This project aims to develop both riverbanks and combat erosion. Survey work has begun, and river silt will be used for road construction.
Sikkim will have a railway connection by 2024. This is essential for security, given its border with China. The 45-kilometer railway will link Sivok in West Bengal to Rangpo in Sikkim, with most of it in West Bengal.
Integrated Hospitality and Convention Centre
The Integrated Hospitality and Convention Centre will feature a convention hub, guest rooms, and a food court. It aims to support tourism and showcase cultural heritage. Technology Park Phase-II, covering 1.5 lakh sq ft, will offer job opportunities, potentially creating over 3000 jobs.
This project will greatly enhance the 'shakti peeth,' making it more accessible for people with disabilities and older devotees. The open space around the temple will expand from 3000 sq ft to about 100,000 sq ft on three levels.
The Jiribam - Imphal New Railway Line
The Jiribam – Imphal railway project is vital for connecting the North-eastern region and is almost finished, with 93.30% physical progress. It includes many tunnels and bridges over a challenging 111 km terrain. So far, 59.11 km of tunnels have been completed out of the total 61.32 km.
