Tsering Tashi, the MLA of Tawang, inaugurated the launch of 4G network services in Tawang. This significantly advances digital connectivity in the region. This network will serve as a platform for delivering online educational and other resources to the people of Tawang.
The launch event took place at the DC conference hall, where attendees included the Deputy Commissioner, Commander of the Tawang Brigade, In charge Rinchin Leta, heads of various offices, and central armed police forces.
MLA Tashi said that Arunachal Pradesh has undergone substantial development since the BJP government came to power in 2014. Remote areas within the state have become digitally linked. The Modi government has made a promise to introduce 4G connectivity to all villages along the Arunachal border, including the Chinese-occupied Tibet, within a year. To fulfil this commitment, 2605 4G towers will be erected to provide connectivity to approximately 3700 villages, benefiting over 70,000 people residing near the border areas.
The 4G tower in Tawang stands as the highest tower in the country, perched at an elevation of 12,600 feet. This marks the infrastructure development on the country. More initiatives are underway to ensure excellent connectivity throughout the state. Both BSNL and Airtel are working to install 650 towers each, accelerating the connectivity efforts. Additionally, about 90 more towers are being erected to facilitate connectivity for 193 border posts of the Indian Army and the Indo Tibetan Border Police Force. This will improve the border network connection and helps in monitoring the border activities.
The establishment of 4G connectivity in remote areas was not without the challenges. Engineers had to deal with adverse weather conditions and rugged terrain, which posed significant obstacles. Despite these challenges, the 4G network was successfully established in Tawang. Furthermore, Jio services are also contributing to digitally connecting Tawang with the rest of the nation.
Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed a surge in developmental projects. The central government is focused on rapid development within the state and in strategic points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The enhancement of road and railway connectivity also facilitates easier access for Indian forces to counter Chinese initiatives.
