Dalai Lama, Meghalaya Govt contribute to Sikkim CMRF funds
Donations are pouring into Sikkim Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) by organizations and individuals wanting to donated in the relief and rehabilitation of the Many organizations and individuals are donating to the CMRF to help in relief and rehabilitation of the recent Teesta Floods victims.
Meghalaya Government has donated Rs. 10 crores to Sikkim CMRF funds to fund the relief and rehabilitation works in the wake of the devastations brought by the Teesta Floods due to a glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) event triggered by cloudburst in portions of Lohnak lake in Mangan district of Sikkim.
Earlier today, His Holiness Dalai Lama made a contribution of Rs. 10,000,00 (rupees ten lakhs) towards the relief efforts. Thanking Dalai Lama, the CM Office said “On behalf of the people of Sikkim and the State government, Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang extended heartfelt gratitude to His Holiness The Dalai Lama for his gracious sentiments and generous support during this time of hardship.
“We are deeply moved by His Holiness’s compassionate concerns and prayers. We sincerely wish for His lasting well-being and joy, as his wisdom and compassion continue to motivate and steer us along our path”, shared the Chief Minister.
The Dalai Lama Trust donated Rs 10,00,000 (Rupees ten Lakhs) to Sikkim CMRF as a mark of solidarity with the people of Sikkim towards relief and rescue efforts to the flash flood affected. The Chief Minister further expressed profound appreciation and gratitude to the Dalai Lama Trust for their invaluable assistance. “The unwavering support from the Trust has been a source of immense strength and inspiration for our community.”
Making the announcement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma said “In aid of the flood-affected victims of Sikkim, ₹1 Crore was transferred through the Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the Sikkim CMRF with prayers for our brothers and sisters of the state.”
Led by the Chief Minister himself, Ministers and MLAs of the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) also contributed one month’s salary to the Sikkim CMRF funds. Students, businesses, and religious institutions are also contributing to the relief efforts by donating to the CMRF funds.” During this challenging period of turmoil and catastrophe that has befallen our beloved state, I wish to convey that the Hon’ble Members of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party, including Hon’ble Ministers and myself, have come together to make a collective donation of one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF),” said CM PS Tamang Gloay through his social media account.
