In the expedition, 150 women CRPF officers will embark on a cross-country rally covering 10,000 kms passing through 15 states and 2 Union Territories. The riders are divided into three teams, with each team riding 75 Royal Enfield (350cc) motorbikes – from Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanyakumari.

With the aim to spread awareness on the value of girl child and to celebrate Nari Shakti, these women bikers or Yashasvini will ride from 3 different locations in the country for 22 days, culminating at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat. The CRPF riders will also interact with the target groups of “BetiBachaoBetiPadhao” like school children and college girls, women self-help groups, cadets of the NCC, children of CCIs, NYKS members, adolescent girls and boys, anganwadi workers etc., across various districts. The objective is to further boost the Women and Child Development Ministry’s “BetiBachaoBetiPadhao” programme.

In addition to promoting the Force’s message of “DeshKe Hum HainRakshak”, the women bikers have also incorporated the social message of “BetiBachaoBetiPadhao”, into their campaign. They would be proudly displaying the BBBP logo on their uniforms and banners, thereby endorsing the cause throughout the country.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Meghalaya CM, Conrad Sangma wrote that he “Flagged off the CRPF Women Bike Expedition from Shillong. With the aim to spread awareness on the value of girl child and to celebrate Nari Shakti, these women bikers or Yashasvini will ride from 3 different locations in the country for 22 days, culminating at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

Our Women folk are capable of doing great things and this cross country expedition under the banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao will strengthen the call for concerted action to harness the potential of our Nari Shakti.

Glad that Meghalaya is one of the states flagging off these women riders which is a matter of pride for us as a matrilineal society. As a state, we have been laying special emphasis on women empowerment and this expedition will send a positive message to the entire country.

I wish our Yashasvini the very best! May they continue to break stereotypes and barriers in their journey.” the Chief Minister said.

After covering approximately 10,000 km, the bikers will all converge at the Statue of Unity, Kevadia Gujarat on 31st October, 2023.
