Mizoram boys win Sub-Junior National Football 2023-2024
Mizoram’s young football team secured the Sub-junior Boys National Football Championship title for the 2023-2024 season. They won the final match against Manipur by 3-0, showcasing their football skills and the spirit of unity among young athletes competing on the national stage.
The championship was organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in Malda, West Bengal, which began on September 3, 2023. The primary location for the games was the District Sports Association (DSA) ground in Malda, and the tournament continued until September 13. The championship’s concluding match occurred in Berhampore, located in the Murshidabad district.
The championship brought together 15 strong teams, and they were split into four groups. They competed in a format where each team played against every other team in their group. After the group stage, the excitement continued with two thrilling semi-final matches on September 10th, which decided the teams that would advance to the finals.
Manipur, who had an impressive performance throughout the championship, encountered the tough opponent, Mizoram during the final match. However, Mizoram displayed greater aggression in their pursuit of victory.
In the 4th minute of the game, Mizoram secured an early advantage when midfielder Lalruatdika executed a skillfull lofted shot from the right side of the field. Despite the challenging conditions caused by the rain and wet field making it tough to pass, Mizoram skillfully got through Manipur’s defense. Notably, Lalhnehzova scored in the 52nd minute, while Isak Lalmalsawma found the back of the net in the 77th minute, clinching the crucial goals for Mizoram.

He extended congratulations to the Mizoram Team for their victory in the final match (3-0) against Manipur in the Sub-Junior Boys National Football Championship 2023-2024. He also congratulated the runner-up team, Manipur.
