Parshuram Kund Festival 2024 begins in Arunachal Pradesh
The Parshuram Kund Festival 2024 began at the renowned pilgrimage site in Wakro, eastern Arunachal Pradesh, Lohit district, on Saturday. Many devotees participated in a sacred dip at the Kund.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the Parshuram Kund Festival in the presence of MP Tapir Gao, MLAs Chau Zignu Namchoom, Talem Taboh, Dasanglu Pul, SJETA Secretary Abu Tayeng, Lohit DC Shashvat Shaurabh, and others.
Mein expressed that the ongoing efforts aim to transform Parshuram Kund into a significant pilgrimage site in the Northeast, with active support from both state and central governments.
He expressed gratitude to the VIPRA Foundation for their role in making Parshuram Kund a major pilgrimage site and for donating a 51-ft statue of Parshuram, which is being installed at the holy site.
During a visit to the control room, the DC informed the Deputy Chief Minister about the arrangements made for a hassle-free holy dip, including crowd control and pilgrim counting using technology.
The festival includes trade fairs at the festival ground and Tezu headquarters, featuring vendors from across the country and local residents showcasing food and local produce, including oranges.
To ensure hygiene, ‘bio toilets’ have been installed by the PHE&WS department, and the Indian Army, in collaboration with a health unit from Tezu-based zonal general hospital, has set up medical camps at strategic locations.
Free food and accommodation will be provided to pilgrims, and ample forces have been deployed to handle emergencies.
On Saturday, around 5,000 people visited Parshuram Kund Festival, with expectations of a growing number in the coming days.
