Nagaland Government announces Saturday as holiday for all schools in the State
The Nagaland government announced Saturday to be a holiday for all schools in the state, including private schools.
The decision has been made taking into consideration the work-life balance for school teachers and students. Making the announcement, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome “Saturdays will be strictly observed as Holidays, as teachers need time for their family while children need time and an environment outside the classroom for holistic development.
Dr. Yhome also announced that the Department will make it mandatory for all to have a School Children Health Card in collaboration with the Health Department from next year, allowing every child to get medical attention at the doorstep of their school.
The Adviser also made another important announcement with regard to admissions to government higher secondary schools. He said in view of heavy rush, first preference for admission to government schools will be given to students from government high schools. He mentioned that a memorandum of agreement to this effect would be signed soon among the government schools.
