Sikkim is one of the states in the northeast region of Indian and the second smallest state in India. It borders Tibet (China) in north and northeast, West Bengal in the south, Bhutan in the east, and Nepal in the west. It is the least populous state situated in the Eastern Himalayas. The state has a rich biodiversity, including subtropical climates and alpline. It also provides host to Kanchenjunga, the highest mountain peak in India. This state is a perfect place for tourism.

Here are some of the best places to visit in Sikkim are;

  1. Gangtok– Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, is extremely beautiful. It is considered as one of the most beautiful hill stations in the country. It shows the incredible views of Mount Kanchenjunga. It is full of natural beauties and one gets attracted into it deeply. Some of its natural attractions include Tsomgo lake, Ban-Jhakri waterfalls and Thashi lookout.
  2. Yuksom– It is also known for its natural beauty which is located in the western region of Sikkim. As located in the heart of the mountains, it provides the most adventurous treks in Sikkim. It is a great historical importance for the people of Sikkim.
  3. Tsomgo lake– Located at a height of 12,400 feet, it is considered to be one of few high altitudes lakes in India. It is a glacial lake, famous for its colour changing waters with seasons.
  4. Nathu La pass– It is one of the highest road in the world which connects Sikkim and China. The temperature remains very low in most of the parts. It plays a key role in open-trade between India and china, as it is one of the three open trading borders between the two countries.
  5. Kanchendzonga National park– It is the most popular national park in Sikkim. The snow clad mountains, lakes and glaciers and its ancient forests makes it one of the best place to visit in Sikkim. The temperature goes below zero degree Celsius as this place receives heavy snowfall throughout the year. Thus, making it the best winter destination in Sikkim.
  6. Yumthang Valley– It is also called the valley of flowers and provides home to some of the rarest flowers. It is one of the beautiful places in Sikkim. The freezing Teesta river and the cool weather not only attracts the people but the soul too gets attracted.
  7. Enchey Monastery– This is a two-hundred-year old monastery. It is one of the most visited places in Sikkim and also the most sacred place for the followers of Buddhism. Guru Padmasambhava, Guru Loketeswara and Lord Buddha are worshiped here.
  8. Solophok-It is one of the most beautiful pilgrimage centre not only in Sikkim but in the entire country. The 87 feet high statue of Lord Shiva makes one feel the soul of Mahadev. There are 12 Jyotirlinga along with the Char Dhaam – Kedarnath, Badrinath, Dwarka and Rameshwaram which makes it the best pilgrimage site
  9. Namchi– Situated at an altitude of 1,675m, it is one of the most visited places in south Sikkim. It is one of the fastest growing tourist spot and pilgrimage centre in Sikkim. The pilgrimage centres include Tendong hills, Namchi monastery and Ralang monastery.
  10. Jawaharlal Nehru botanical garden– established in 1987 Jawaharlal Nehru botanical garden is a lush green land which attracts the tourists with its natural beauty. The garden has a collection of 1.5 lakh plants and provides best place for picnic lovers.
