Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are scheduled to attend the event.
Organized by “One Arunachal,” a registered NGO dedicated to raising awareness and preserving the traditional heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, NEIFW aims to empower artisans and weavers from across the Northeast by providing them with exposure to the fashion industry and opportunities to connect with potential buyers and collaborators.
“The sixth edition of NEIFW will focus on skill development and capacity building for artisans and weavers, aiming to enhance their employability, secure better livelihoods, dignify their labor, and establish a global brand presence,” said Yana Ngoba Chakpu, the chief executive officer of NEIFW.
The event will feature workshops, round-table conferences on inclusive skilling and a variety of fashion shows featuring models, craftsmen, and artists. The 6th edition of NEIFW also promotes inclusivity by offering equal opportunities to Divyangjan and Non-Divyangjan artisans.
“We strive to identify artisan role models, boost self-esteem within the artisan community, advocate for their skills, and bring together the best of the region’s fashion talent under one roof, said Joram Tat, Chairman of One Arunachal. “We are committed to training and promoting the weavers and designers from the region through ongoing skill development and capacity building to achieve their full potential.”
NEIFW is an annual event that has previously conducted five fashion-related events with a focus on promoting the handloom and handicrafts of Northeast India at the grassroots level.
The sixth edition of NEIFW is expected to attract a large number of visitors from across India and abroad. The event is sure to be a major boost for the Northeast’s fashion industry and will help to put the region on the global map.
