The three-day 8th Assam International Agri-Horti Show 2023 kicks off on December 16th and promises a vibrant celebration of Assam’s rich agricultural heritage and potential.

Held at the College of Veterinary Science Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati, this exhibition is being organised by the state department of agriculture and horticulture.

Delegates from 11 countries are participating in the 8th Assam International Agri-Horti Show-2023 whose theme is “Marching towards self-sufficiency, maximising farmers’ income.”

Assam, being the largest state in the Northeastern region in both size and crop output, has a variety of horticultural and agricultural products, tea gardens and diverse landscapes consisting of grasslands and wetlands. The state benefits from fertile soil and ample rainfall, allowing abundant growth of food crops, cereals and staples.

Noteworthy agricultural products exclusive to Assam include specialty rice varieties (black, red, purple, and joha rice), Assam lemon, Tezpur litchi, Karbi Anglong ginger, Malbhog and Bhimkal bananas, King chillies, and various orchids.

Building on the success of the past seven shows which provided a platform to farmers and all stakeholders in agri-horti fields of the state, this year’s show will feature technical and plenary sessions covering various topics, buyers-sellers meet, an exhibition and competitions.

The exhibition featuring around 393 stalls will see participants from Malaysia, Serbia, Thailand, Bhutan, New Zealand, South Korea, Mongolia, Iran, Indonesia, Seychelles and Bangladesh. There will also be a dog show and competition organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Science of Assam Agriculture University.

The objectives of 8th Assam International Agri-Horti Show 2023:

  • Bring together various stakeholders through buyer-seller meet/ farmers meet.
