On the night of October 10, the Guwahati City Police seized a large quantity of counterfeit Indian currency notes (FICN) and arrested an individual.

Acting on a tip-off, the West Guwahati Police District and Jalukbari Outpost teams joined forces to crack down on counterfeit Indian currency notes (FICN) on October 10. They arrested an individual named Mofidul Islam, a 29-year-old from Bihpuriya in Lakhimpur district, near Bhupen Hazarika Samadjhi Sthal in Jalukbari.

The Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Diganta Borah, stated that during the interrogation, they learned about another accomplice, Rofikuddin from Laluk Islampur, Lakhimpur, who had been running an illegal FICN operation at Mirza Rail Gate from a rented house. As a result, a raid was conducted at Mirza Rail Gate on the night of October 10, resulting in the discovery of a FICN printing machine and FICN of 2,16,500 rupees (comprising 433 counterfeit notes of 500- rupee denomination). Legal action has been initiated in this matter.

Earlier, on October 8, the West Guwahati Police District with the help of Azara police station, conducted a raid at a rented house near the airport in Jalukbari. They seized 55,000 rupees in 500- rupee denomination of counterfeit Indian currency and a FICN production machine. In connection with this case, Priyanka Das and her associate, Debojit Deori of Silapathar, were arrested.
