Shillong gets its Game On: Two-Day Odyssey Gaming Fest kicks off
The picturesque city of Shillong erupted in excitement today as the two-day gaming festival, Odyssey, kicked off at the State Central Library. With a vibrant mix of esports tournaments, indie game showcases, stalls and various other gaming activities, Odyssey promises to be a haven for gaming enthusiasts of all ages.
Mutation eSports in partnership with the government of Meghalaya has organized this Odyssey gaming festival. The event opened with a dazzling ceremony, featuring prominent figures from the gaming industry and local dignitaries.

Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh officially inaugurated the gaming festival and in his inaugural address, he lauded the initiative for promoting Shillong as a hub for gaming and innovation. He also handed over a cheque of ₹ 40 lacs sanctioned by the Meghalaya government to support the gaming festival.
Lyngdoh said, “We hope that this first-of-a-kind gaming festival organised in Shillong will encourage gamers and provide them with such a platform.”
Odyssey would be an impressive roster of esports tournaments across various popular titles including Call of Duty: Mobile battle, involving national and international esports players.
India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore are the four countries participating in this inaugural edition of Odyssey. There is a cash prize of fifty thousand US dollars in the Call of Duty: Mobile battle, which will be contested by eight teams, each consisting of five members.
Odyssey also features a series of workshops led by industry experts, covering topics like game development, esports management, and content creation. These workshops provide valuable insights and skills for aspiring gamers and developers to pursue their passions in the industry.
Beyond the competitions and exhibits, Odyssey fosters a sense of community and brotherhood among gamers where attendees can network and share their experiences.
With its diverse range of activities, exciting competition, and focus on community building, Odyssey promises to be a landmark event in Shillong’s gaming scene. The festival aims to not only entertain but also inspire and empower the next generation of gamers and developers in the Northeast region.
