CM inaugurates multi-level car parking constructed under Kohima Smart City mission

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated a multi-level car parking complex at the Old Medical Directorate site in Kohima on Friday, November 04, 2023. The complex was constructed under the Kohima Smart City mission and has a capacity to accommodate over 400 vehicles.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister said that the new car parking complex will help to ease the traffic congestion in Kohima, which is a major problem in the city. He also said that the complex will provide a safe and convenient place to park vehicles, and will also boost the economy of the city by attracting more visitors and businesses.

The multi-level car parking complex is equipped with modern facilities such as a vehicle guidance system, CCTV surveillance, and fire safety systems. It is also accessible to differently-abled people.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), CM Neiphiu Rio said “I thank the Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland for inaugurating the multi-level car parking complex at the Old Medical Directorate site. I thank him for accepting and gracing the programme. The new facility will provide parking capacity for 180 cars. Two more multi-level car parking facilities is in the process of developing by Kohima Smart City at the local ground and at the City Center, which will ensure parking for more than 500 cars in the heart of Kohima, the capital city. I extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the GoI and the concerned Ministry for their continued support. I congratulate the officials of Kohima Smart City in completing the project and hope for the same dedication in all the upcoming projects.”

The inauguration of the multi-level car parking complex is a major milestone in the development of Kohima as a smart city. The city is implementing a number of other projects under the Kohima Smart City mission, including the development of smart streets, public transportation, and waste management systems.
