Maruti Suzuki and the Indian Navy collaborate for Northeastern outreach

Maruti Suzuki India has joined hands with the Indian Navy to spread awareness about career opportunities among the youth population of Northeastern region of India through an outreach program called the “Khamree Mo Sikkim” on 24 September.

This adventure has already begun from 24 September with a journey of 6,500 km starting from the Indian navy base located in Lonavala, Maharashtra. A team of 45 navy officials is covering the journey in five vehicles. The vehicles include two flagship Grand Vitara ALL GRIP SUVs and three Maruti Suzuki Jimny off-roaders. They will cover the journey in the next few weeks.

This expedition has three parts, each with a unique focus. The first part starts at INS Shivaji and goes to Bagdogra, the second extensively covers Sikkim, and the third travels from Gangtok, Sikkim, back to INS Shivaji. It focuses on youth empowerment in rural areas along the eastern coastal region.

During the journey, participants will closely engage with local communities, delivering motivational talks and guidance on defense entrance exams at schools and colleges. The rally will also explore history and culture, visiting significant landmarks along the way. This combination of adventure and cultural enrichment ensures an unforgettable journey.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed pride in the collaboration with the Indian Navy. He emphasized Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to the Northeast’s advancement and the development of its youth. He extended best wishes to the officers, expecting the purpose-built SUVs to make the journey exciting and fulfilling.

Commodore Mohit Goel, Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji, highlighted the joint effort to contribute to the progress and well-being of Northeast India. He said that the primary objective is to educate and motivate the youth about the numerous opportunities in the Navy while strengthening ties with local communities.

The collaboration between Maruti Suzuki India and the Indian Navy in the “Khamree Mo Sikkim” outreach program is a commendable effort to empower the youth in the North East.
