Sourav Ganguly teams up with Tripura as tourism brand ambassador

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has signed an agreement with the Tripura government to become its brand ambassador. He is expected to help the state in promoting its tourism sector nationally and globally.

The former India captain will promote the state through social media, television, Facebook and Instagram so that more people become aware of the beautiful places in Tripura and visit the state. He also expressed his desire to help Tripura in the excel in cricket as well.

Sourav Ganguly is also the brand ambassador of his own state, West Bengal. He had signed the agreement to become West Bengal’s brand ambassador few weeks earlier this year. Tripura and West Bengal share cultural and linguistic similarities.

While signing the agreement at the historic Ujjayanta Palace of the erstwhile Manikya Dynasty, Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that Ganguly’s appointment will help the state in promoting its tourism sector.

As per the arrangement, Ganguly is set to film videos at Ujjayanta Palace and Chabimura in the Gomati district, highlighting these two significant tourist destinations. Besides these two places, he will also film more videos in other tourism centres.

Ganguly said, “I have been introduced to this beautiful place. Since I have become the ambassador of Tripura Tourism, I will keep visiting this place.”

Ganguly’s association with Tripura Tourism is expected to give a boost to the state’s tourism industry. The state government is hoping to attract more tourists from both domestic and international markets.

Tripura CM Manik Saha posted on X, “Former captain of Indian Cricket Team Shri Sourav Ganguly, the Tourism Brand Ambassador for our #BeautifulTripura, paid a courtesy visit to my official residence this evening.”

Tripura is a small state in northeastern India. It is bordered by Bangladesh to the west, north, and south, and by the Indian state of Mizoram to the east. Tripura is known for its lush green hills, beautiful waterfalls and rich cultural heritage.

The state government is developing a number of tourist destinations in Tripura besides the already existing ones. Some of the major tourist spots in Tripura include Unakoti, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, Ujjayanta Palace, Neermahal Water Palace and Tripura Sundari Temple.
