Tawang Marathon 2023, Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal Pradesh is set to host a marathon in Tawang which is scheduled for 1st October 2023. This Tawang Marathon is organised jointly by the Indian army and the Arunachal Government. It will be the first time in Arunachal to organise such a large-scale marathon.
The aim of this marathon is to create Tawang a destination of adventure sports and marathons which will boost tourism in the state. The Tawang Marathon guarantees an amazing adventure, surrounded by the stunning scenery of Tawang, where the land reaches an average height of 10,000 feet above the sea level. The unique terrain provides runners with a remarkable chance to take part in one of India’s toughest high-altitude races.
This event also aims to draw marathon enthusiasts from every corner of the country. Many people are keen to participate in this event. Besides this, there will be participation of Indian Army, Airforce, Navy and centre armed police forces like ITBP and SSB. They all will have strong teams that will actively take part. This event will provide golden opportunity for runners to participate together with the armed forces.
The Tawang Marathon will offer different race categories for everyone. There will be a full Marathon, a Half-Marathon, and also 10 km and 5 km races. These variety of races is great because it gives chance to the people with different abilities and fitness levels to take part in this special event. Chief minister Pema Khandu has shown his commitment by becoming the first person to register for the event.
