Indigo Airlines security executive HT Vanlalruati’s vigilance leads to drugs seizure
In a remarkable act of vigilance, HT Vanlalruati, an executive security officer at Indigo Airlines, played a crucial role in assisting the Mizoram Police in seizing a large consignment of drugs worth over Rs 25 crore from two Myanmar nationals at the Aizawl Airport on October 3, 2023.
While screening check-in baggage at the Indigo Airlines screening point, Vanlalruati’s sharp eyes detected irregularities in two blue suitcases belonging to one Lalremthangi and Tinchuaii, passengers from Letpanchhawng, Myanmar, who were about to board a flight to New Delhi. Upon further inspection, Vanlalruati discovered packets of suspected concealed within the suitcases.
HT Vanlalruati alerted the Mizoram Police, who promptly apprehended the two Myanmar nationals and seized the contraband. The seized drugs were identified as crystal meth, a highly addictive and dangerous stimulant. According to Mizoram Police, on 3rd October this year, at 09:20 AM, Ms. HT Vanlalruati detected 10 packets of suspected Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth) weighing 10.200 kilograms with an estimated value of over Rs. 25,495,000 during the screening of check-in baggage at the Indigo screening point at Lengpui Airport.
Mizoram Police Director General Anil Shukla commended Vanlalruati’s vigilance and quick action, stating that her alertness had prevented a significant quantity of drugs from entering the state and potentially harming its citizens. Shukla awarded Vanlalruati a Rs 5,000 cash reward and a letter of appreciation for her outstanding contribution to the fight against drug trafficking.

Earlier too on October 9th, Miss HT Vanlalruati had detected one live .22 ammunition in the check-in baggage of a passenger, William (35) of Churachandpur, Manipur, as he was about to board Indigo Airlines flight to Guwahati without a valid license for the weapon.
