Khompu and Brailiang villages in Arunachal Pradesh, achieves 100% tap water connections as a part of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, initiated by the Government of India aims to ensure that every rural household in India has access to safe and sufficient drinking water from individual tap connections by 2024 across the country. Launched in 2019, the mission is driven by the vision of ensuring water security and improving the overall quality of life for rural communities.

By employing sustainable water management techniques, infrastructure development, and community involvement, the mission seeks to eradicate water scarcity and enhance the health and well-being of millions of rural residents. It plays a crucial role in addressing water-related challenges and promoting sustainable development in India’s rural areas.
Khompu and Brailiang villages have taken significant steps towards achieving the mission’s objectives and have successfully connected every home to clean tap water.
Khompu, a small village with around 55 people and 8 households, achieved the “Har Ghar Jal” status on October 6, 2023. Now, every home, school, and anganwadi in Khompu has access to safe tap water.

Brailiang, with a population of 94 people and around 11 households, reached the “Har Ghar Jal” status on October 10, 2023. All the homes, schools, and anganwadis in Brailiang now have clean and safe drinking water.
