Manipur Government holds cabinet meeting at Ukhrul district headquarters
The Manipur Government led by CM Biren Singh held a cabinet meeting at Ukhrul district headquarters on October 18, 2023. This was the seventh such meeting held outside the state capital after Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Senapati, Jiribam, and Kangpokpi.
The meeting chaired by the Chief Minister was attended by all cabinet ministers and senior government officials. The meeting discussed a wide range of issues, including development projects in Ukhrul district, the law and order situation in the state, and the upcoming Manipur Assembly elections.

After the meeting, Chief Minister Singh announced that the Manipur government would be launching a new scheme called “School Phagathansi” to improve the quality of education in government schools in the state. He also said that the government would be taking steps to improve the road infrastructure in Ukhrul district.
The cabinet meeting also inaugurated 21 projects that were constructed in different villages of Ukhrul at a total cost of Rs 23.93 crore. In addition, the cabinet laid the foundation stone for 24 projects, including the construction of quarters in seven police stations.
The cabinet meeting in Ukhrul district was seen as a significant gesture by the Manipur government towards the people of the hill districts. It was also seen as a way to promote development and inclusive governance in the state.
