RIMS Imphal celebrates 52nd Foundation Day
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Thursday celebrated its 52nd foundation day at the jubilee hall of the institute.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest of the event, Governor Anusuiya Uikey said that the institute has been rendering dedicated service to the people not only in Manipur but also in North East India.
Saying that the medical institute started as a medical institution catering to the needs of the North East States, the Governor said that the objective of RIMS is to provide quality medical education and improve the health conditions of the people in rural areas of North East States.
Meritorious awards were distributed to select medical students during the event. RIMS Director, Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma also presented the annual report of the institute in his address.
The institute has accelerated its development with the opening of super speciality courses besides opening undergraduate and postgraduate courses and also making efforts towards increasing academic and research activities.
Appealing to the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to establish a good rapport with patients, the Governor said, patients come to hospital with trust and they feel themselves to be in safe hands. Therefore, doctors should not only be competent but also dedicated and should provide better service to the patients.
Trust in doctors helps a lot in the recovery of the patients, the governor said, adding that RIMS, being the number one referral hospital, must ensure that no patient is referred to other hospitals but is provided the best care.
The Governor also thanked the Director, faculties, doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and students for their relentless efforts to develop RIMS and encouraged them to put their best efforts further to make the institute the most excellent centre for medical education, research, health and medicine in the country.
