The 3rd edition of the North East India Festival will be held at the September 23rd Park, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on 27th, 28th and 29th of October 2023. The previous two editions of the festival held in 2019 and 2022 in Bangkok were a grand success.

The North East India Festival plays a vital role in bridging the gap between Southeast Asia and Northeast India by promoting cultural exchange, commerce, and business ties. The 3rd edition of the Northeast India Festival is set to further enhance the already cordial relations between India and Vietnam through bilateral trade, tourism and cultural exchange. The previous editions have been able to establish a healthy Indo-Thai relationships.

India and Vietnam have exceptionally friendly and cordial relations, rooted in their common struggle for independence from foreign rule. Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, with strong expertise in agriculture. India’s thrust under the ‘Act East’ policy combined with Vietnam’s growing engagement within the region and with India has paid rich dividends. Vietnam is an important regional partner in South East Asia.

Historical linkages and ethnic similarities play a vital role in boosting bilateral trade, tourism and other areas of cooperation. India and Vietnam closely cooperate in various regional forums such as ASEAN, East Asia Summit, Mekong Ganga Cooperation, Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) besides UN and WTO.

The North East India Festival focuses on trade, investment and tourism promotion as well as people to people and academic exchanges between North East Indian states and Vietnam. A large contingent of artists, craftsmen, businessmen, exhibitors, tour operators, scholars and academicians from the North Eastern States of India will be a part of the North East India Festival.

The 3rd edition of the North East India Festival will be a grand celebration of the region’s rich culture, diverse products and vibrant business scene. Visitors can expect to experience a dazzling array of activities, including:

  • Trade shows showcasing the best of North East India’s products, including tea, agro, and food processing products, tourism destinations and festivals.
  • B2B meets to promote business partnerships between North East India and Vietnam.
  • Academic exchanges to promote collaboration between educational institutions in the two regions.
  • A cultural extravaganza featuring the colorful dance forms, delicious cuisines and exquisite fabrics of North East India, as well as performances by the best bands and artists of Northeast India and Vietnam.

The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Mr. Neiphu Rio, will lead a delegation of cultural performers, policymakers, officials and entrepreneurs to showcase the best of Nagaland’s industrial and tourism potential.
