As the Hornbill Festival gets ready to kick off in the first week of December, the organizers are working hard to make sure everything is perfect for the festival, which includes several festivities extravaganzas.

Various hubs which will host the Hornbill Festival are being transformed to reflect the rich heritage of the Naga people. This includes fixing up these spaces to showcase the traditional culture in an immersive way.

Food and Music Festival

The Food and Music Festival taking place on November 24 & 25, 2023 at Kisama Heritage Village in Kohima, marks the prelude to the main Hornbill Festival. The Prelude provides you a mix of delicious food and fantastic music to get you in the festive mood.

Mini Hornbill Tribal Festival

Every year during the Hornbill Festival, there’s a World War II Peace Rally in Kohima to remember the Battle of Kohima and spread the message of peace. The rally starts in Dimapur and finishes at the World War II Museum in Kisama, Kohima, with participants driving vintage World War II vehicles like jeeps and motorcycles.

Nagaland’s Department of Women Resource Development is organizing a dance event during the Hornbill Festival called the Hornbill Festival cum Mykifest on December 8th and 9th at Hostiscape and Kisama Heritage Village.

Naga Wrestling Championship

Miss Hornbill International

The Miss Hornbill International pageant organized by Vogue Entertainment Nagaland with support from Nagaland Tourism, the Art and Culture Department, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, and the Department of Sericulture is kicking off the Grand Finale for the 1st Miss Hornbill International, themed “Rise Above Beauty,” on December 2nd, 2023, at 6:00 pm in the Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima.

To make the evening special, Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, will be a special guest. The ceremony, with its splendid atmosphere and special guests, marks the fusion of beauty, culture, and women empowerment.

Loinloom Festival

Naga Lionloom Festival, themed “Livelihood Through Traditions” is a celebration that blends the ancient art of storytelling with modern narrative techniques. This cultural event aims to showcase the rich heritage of Naga storytelling.

The festival organized by the Exotic Echo Society in partnership with the Government of Nagaland and Nagaland Tourism is happening at the Weavers place in Diezephe village, Chumoukedima, from December 6th to 8th.

Winter Carnival and Orchid Festival

Winter Carnival cum Orchid Festival by the Tepuika River in Peren town is a lively celebration which offers a deep dive into the cultural richness and natural beauty of the area. The festival, also a part of the Hornbill Festival will be held from December 6th to 10th with support from Nagaland Tourism, Hornbill Festival, Progressive Peren, and the Government of Nagaland.

Run For Hornbill

Run for Hornbill Against Time”, a part of the Hornbill Festival Celebration, is a 5km fun run organized by the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Govt of Nagaland.

The run will take place on 4th December in the stunning landscapes of Nagaland to build a sense of environmental responsibility. This event is being organized to promote wildlife conservation and represents a united effort to protect the natural habitat of the majestic hornbill species.

The Hornbill Sports Festival
